How it works

How Utah inspects salons

Inspections are done by the Utah Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL).

The local health officer may enter a salon to perform inspections and investigations once the officer shows proper identification, and the operator must give access to all salon space, including leased space.

“Upon presenting proper identification, the operator shall permit the local health officer to enter upon the premises of a cosmetology facility to perform inspections, investigations, and other actions as necessary to ensure compliance with this rule.”

We found no inspection form published by DOPL, so this checklist is built from the state's rules themselves.
