How it works

How Montana inspects salons

Inspections are done by the Montana Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. A new salon is inspected before it may open or before its license is issued, so have everything below in place before you book it.

Department inspectors conduct annual inspections of licensed salons and shops, and these can be conducted with or without notice.

“Annual inspections are conducted by department inspectors once a salon/shop or school is licensed and can be conducted with or without notice”

We found no inspection form published by the Montana Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists, so this checklist is built from the state's rules themselves.
